Digestive Photos: Pulau Ubin Camping Trip
Date: 29/05/10 to 30/05/10

So we took the ferry and set foot on the 50s-60s facade island at the north-east of Singapore

The colourful Tua Pek Kong flags greeted us as there were some offerings going on in this kampong island

After we left our items back at the HSBC volunteer Centre, we marched on to Chek Jawa

After a long walk of around 30minutes, we finally reached our destination

The view from the Chek Jawa Tower
I'm emoing

After Chek Jawa, we proceed on to our campsite(Jelutong), with the jackfruit that Kaiyan plucked during our way back

Pitching the eight-man-tent

Pitch Pitch Pitch

Done with the tent pitchers

A mini campfire that we set up

Burn with the companion of sweet potatoes

Filed cooking time!
Eat and cook...

Cook and eat...

Delicious spicy drumsticks!

I'm one of the chef!
Teamwork and bonding at work
Enjoying the foodies!

Back to the natural way of cooking

Playing with sparkles after our delicious dinner
The secretive and beautiful orangy moon that accompanied us throughout the night

Time for some card games!

Shiny stars that made the sky picturesque

Playing Monopoly Deal Cards while the rest fell into their dreamland

A last photo to mark our time in Ubin

Ferry back to mainland Singapore after such a wonderful 18hours
Thanks and goodbye to Pulau Ubin for being such a great host!
Had formation outing today at Singapore Discovery Centre. We watched 2 movies, first was 3D Shrek 3 and then followed by 3D Sea Monster. Shrek was OK, but 3D Sea Monster was totally a sleeping beauty movie. Having a bad headache now and so tonight i'm gonna turn in early.

Finally, Singapore beat China in Table Tennis after 19 years to win the World Table Tennis Championship! I'm so elated when I saw the news and although it had nothing to do with me, but I am just patriotic towards my country! Some people may say that it is still a "China vs China" competition, and thus Singaporeans doesn't have to be proud about it. However, I beg to differ. In my opinion, I think that our forefathers also come from different parts of the world like China and India. They plant their roots in Singapore seeking for opportunities. And aren't all this current foreign talents are in the situation of our forefathers once in? Unless they decides to wipe off their backside, turn thier back on the opportunities that Singapore gave them and go back to their native countries, that I had nothing to say. But now, printed on their shirts are still the crescent and 5 stars.
Cheers~

Never Boring Companion
Sunday, May 30, 2010, 5/30/2010 09:44:00 AM

Weekend is flying off again.

Thursday night, went to Bedok 85 for Dinner with Denise, HuiSan and Amberlyn. Ordered Ba Chor Me, Stingray, Chicken Wing and Or Dan. Had a good night chatting and indulging in delicious foodies.

On Friday, met up with Ler for a rushed lunch at Mcdonald as we were almost late for the Mcvalue Lunch. Mcdonald introducing Mcvalue Lunch set meals during weekend is great because it makes people willing to buy, and i'm one of them. After that, we had a rare event of going to Tampines Stadium to have a run. Can't believe that Ler actually wanted to start training and guess this is the 1st time in years that we actually done something related to sport. OK maybe i'm just exaggerating. Met up again with Ter and Ren in the evening for some talk cock session.

Yesterday, which is a Saturday, I woke up in the morning and met up with KianAik to the market to buy ingredients for the egg sandwiches that we are going to make for the Pulau Ubin camping trip. After that, met up with the rest at Changi Village at around 2pm plus and we heads to Ubin, which our objective were to relive the good old days that we once had.

It was a really fun day with the companion of the never boring friends! Once we reached there, our first stop was to trek to Chek Jawa. We decided not to cycle as we want to do something that is different for the past- trekking on foot in Pulau Ubin. We said Hello to the crab and mudskipper, occasionally greetings the Blangahdeshi who is clearing and containing the oil spill from the recent ship collision off Singapore's coast. Went up to the tall tower and enjoy the scenery of Chek Jawa from a bird's eye view.

After that, we decided to head back to campsite and on the way, we tried our best to plucked a jackfruit from one of the trees but it turned out to be unripe. We set up camp at Jelutong beach, build basha and set fire for field cooking for our dinner. The food was really great- chicken drumstick, soups, the sandwiches that KianAik and I made, Instant noodles, Chicken cubes, pure mashed potatoes and assorted fruits dessert which put a full stop for our stomachs. It was very special to have the chance to occasionally be able to experience living in the "wild", cooking in a not so usual methods with the companion of wonderful friends.

After that, we played with some sparkles before heading to the hut to play the "Werewolves" game. Had some laughter before they turned in at around 2am plus. WenQiang, Denise, HuiSan and I decided to go to the basketball court to play the Monopoly Deal Card that I bought. Had a few rounds and I dozed off on the hard ground at around 4am plus.

We woke up at around 630am, break camp and heads back to Singapore. Had our breakfast at Changi Village before heading home.

Tomorrow is Monday again. Luckily, there is a Formation outing to Singapore Discovery Centre for some movies session which means no work!! Looking forward to next weekend lo!

Cheers~

I'm no Mt Everest
Monday, May 24, 2010, 5/24/2010 09:46:00 PM

I'm not an Everest, so stop climbing over me! I know i'm once short, but since then I have grown taller. Really tall, so please don't climb over my head. If not, before you reach, I will smack your backside and bring you all the way down to base camp!

I just don't want to feel "My job is my job. Your job is my job".

Arhhh! Speaking of Mt Everest, I just saw the Yahoo news that a 13-years-old kid actually broke the world record of being the youngest person ever to reach the summit!

Whao, when I was 13, i'm just a 1.45meter kid in school, being joke around as a shorty, short wintermelon, dwarf and all kinds of shorties mean words that you can ever think about, playing soccer, playing basketball, let the book study me and without even a dream of my own. And here, this kid from America actually fulfilled one of his greatest dreams that many people dreamt about, some even pay it for thier lives.

This prove that if your have dreams, and have determination in fulfilling it, one day, no matter how long it will take, it will eventually be fulfilled. So let me have my own determination, and prove to myself that this is true!

Once I enter the workforce and start earning money, I will also want to go mountaineering, and scuba diving, go on an annual long vacation to visit the world wonders, swim with the Dolphin, sit on a grassy plateau counting the stars, maybe a "not once in a lifetime" sky diving and enjoy what I enjoyed. Just fantasizing the future makes me excited!

Hopefully my life is not too short to finish all this!

Can't wait for this long weekend to come!

On a random note, I just enjoyed a plate of Black Pepper Crab!! My digestive system is burning hot and guess in no time, it gonna come out from my ****.

Cheers~

Men/Boy's Night
Sunday, May 23, 2010, 5/23/2010 01:59:00 AM

Now I understand what it means by blood is thicker than water. Although it is not real blood, but it is a bond that is forged strong through so many years. A mixture of ingredients like trust, chemistry and understanding that makes it so thick.

We went to visit Lam today in the evening. Hope you are resting well and be as cheerful as you are with the smile that always brightens up people.

After that, thinking of where to go, we finally decided on Balestial Ba Kut Teh. It really don't kill to pay more for the pork ribs part rather than the other parts as it is tastier! Had a fulfilling dinner before heading to Bugis for some gai gai and shop shop. After that, we moved on to Parklane for some lan gaming session. Long time no play DOTA already!

After the game, we proceed on to have Rochar Tau Hwa for supper before heading back home.

A great Men/Boy's Night!

Cheers~

Great Night Out at Arab St
Saturday, May 22, 2010, 5/22/2010 01:46:00 AM

Had quite an exotic dinner today. Have you ever tried Lebanese Food before? Yes I did it for the first time today. We went to this restaurant situated at Bussorah Street, which is a street behind Arab Street. First, I would like to comment that this is the first time that I have been to Arab Street and my first impression is "WOW". So this can be such a great place to have a good night out to chill. With pubs lining beside the street, tempting restaurants and eateries and undiminishing crowds, this place just attracts your soul.

So we went to this restaurant called Beirut, Lebanese fine dining cuisine. With the furniture and props of the restaurant, it just makes you feels right in Lebanon. We had a great appetizer which is somekind of dough bread which we had to dip it into a very unique sauce. That dish is really highly recommended and I always wanted to ask for more. For main course, their Chef recommendations dish is really great, especially the grilled lamb, the spices did a really good job at covering the weird smell of the lamb. I had a grilled chicken in Lebanese style which is not bad too.

After dinner, we went to another cafe which serves great dessert!! The decoration of the cafe is of Middle Eastern style. We were sitted on the mats around this square table with the semi-enclosed space only for us, a very unique chill out place! The cafe is famous for their custard and I really like the vanilla ice cream custard as it smells really fragrant. My Caramel Custard Delight is also very smooth and tasty!

So today I had enjoyed great food and a wonderful night out!

Cheers~

Time off granted!
Thursday, May 20, 2010, 5/20/2010 08:57:00 PM

I'm so happy that my 30minutes time off from work has been approved by my head! This means that I can attend my classes on time which will be starting in July! Woot~ A load off my mind! Can't wait to collect my textbook to start studying. Guess next week gonna go down and collect it.

At the same time, I have recieved a letter from SIM RMIT university telling me that I have been accepted into the course(Degree in Econs and Finance) which I applied for weeks ago. But I reluctantly threw the letter away as I have other aims and direction in my life already.

Work load for this week has been heavier as my colleague is on MC. But i'm glad that I survived it through as compared to the previous one which makes me struggle. This at least shows that I have improved in managing my time! Wahaha. And so looking forward to tomorrow cause it is HOLY FRIDAY and also because that it is a Dessert Day with AC!

Cheers~

The Birthday Man!

Cool eh!

Is it really that difficult to find back my old self? The life that I once enjoyed? Yes. Time has passed. People have changed.
But I am glad that I am still enjoying my life, but the difference is, now there are more situation to deal with. I guess that is the price for growing older and older. And I am happy that I am not alone to deal with all this problems. And no one should ever be alone.

Duke, Happy Birthday
5/16/2010 02:12:00 AM

Digestion once again!

Celebrating my colleague(yellow shirt) birthday at Marina Barrage last week

My colleagues and the ORDed guy on the far right is my ex-upper study

Why sometimes, when words are being said in such a way, it builds up rages in me? Is it that I am too sensitive or maybe it is just the character of that? But I thought usually I am not a sensitive person? Or is it because there is already a "rejection" feeling in me, so when things are said in such a mean way, the rejection kicks in? I have tried again and again to brush it off but then, the sarcasm just didnt stop. Just like the chinese saying goes "If a tiger don't show it true colors, you treat it as a sick cat." Something like being climbed over the head. So the only way to prevent it is to reduce the chance of hearing it. And yes that is what I am going to do.

Thinking of what I did last night, indeed I do feel that I am stupid. I am in a state of drunkness when I am not. But hearing what is said makes me feel less stupid. The ultimate choice is in you unless you tell me that you don't have a mind that makes decision? Don't you feel that it is plain stupid when you are doing something that you yourself think is not right but still, continue doing it while at the same time, blaming others for the wrong doing? That is really something that can make people laugh out loud.

I can't stay in my nonchalent attitude anymore. So be it if i'm being hated. Don't be a destroyer of my good mood. Don't ruin my status of being carefree. Stay away from me the further the better.

Hopefully, whatever that is shown is not just for some circus, if not it shows how degrading one is.

Am I over reacting?

Last night, went to Duke's chalet for a sleepover. Many happenings which I hope I don't remember and slept intermittently. So when I reached home this morning, while reading the newspaper, I started to feel lethargic and fell asleep. Woke up at 4 plus to meet up with the rest to Duke's chalet. Had some nice laughter before going off for some supper. Weather was as still as a standing pole- no wind at all and that means hot hot hot... Like me!! =DD

Duke, Happy R21 Birthday!

I read the newspaper and found this line quite interesting by Dr Goh Keng Swee, our late Deputy Prime Minister- "the only way to avoid mistakes are not to do anything. And that... will be the ultimate mistake."
Woot~ So happy for Ler that he got his dream job! Congrats bro! Next time, you know, if I go Sentosa, and I play money money, can help help right? =DD

Again, hope that the Pulau Ubin stayover plan, which we hope could bring us back to the golden days that we used to be, be fulfilled!

Cheers~

the stupidest thing
Thursday, May 13, 2010, 5/13/2010 09:39:00 PM

I am going to crap about the stupidiest thing that I had done two weeks ago.

So my colleague and I went off 10minutes earlier. Than while I was at the bus stop, my superior called my handphone as she can't get through the office line. So she realised that we left early and decided to punish us by giving us do extra duty.

I was real angry at that time because I think sometimes, rules are really ridiculous. Rules are dead, but human are flexible. When you have completed everything that is in your hand, to leave 10minutes earlier is it something that is too much? I mean if you are efficient, if you have produce results, if you hae done your job well, and just because you did not leave on the dot(10minutes only leh), you get punished.

So after hanging up the phone, I was really angry and I messaged to my other colleague telling him about how I feel. However, rage was building in me and my mind was in a state of haywire, after I typed finish the message, I thought I sent it to my friend but I actually sent it to my superior!

So that is what happened and currently, the dust has settled. Well I know I have been in the wrong for leaving 10minutes earlier, but are we treated differently? Just because we are of different class, we need to follow rule by rule, book by book. Take for example, you have finish the job that is in your hand, everyone has left the office and there are only you with 10minutes to your actual knock off time, just because they say your knock off time is that time, you have to wait there, doing nothing for 10minutes before you can leave. Because we are of different class, we don't have to right to be flexible in our job. And I was wondering for those who are regulars, do they also TOTALLY follow the rules? Well I dare to say no, because I have seen it with my own eyes, and heard it with my own ears.

In the end, after some awkwardness and nagging, it is settled without any punishment.

Some people may say that because this is meelee-theory, so you have to follow the rules, follow the instruction because this is basic discipline. But if you follow redundantly, follow instruction that is incorrrect, is that still called discipline? And just because this is meelee-theory, as a "2nd class", we don't even have the rights to voice out our opinion? Just because we are of "2nd class", our basic welfare can be taken for granted?

rules are dead, the mind is flexible.

I would like to conclude that it is not what the rules are nor the stuff that you do is difficult, it is the people whom you work with makes your life difficult, the more so that he/she is your superior.

That's the end of my Stupid Story.

Today, I went for medical appointment and was given a day of medical leave. So I went to apply for my classes after that! But the sad thing is I have to go down again to collect the textbook which they have not finish printing yet =( The reason for me to study so hard is hopefully in the future, I can get a better job, so that it could give me, my parents and my family a better life. It is time to repay my parents for their hardwork in bringing us up through so many hardship.

The good news that I am talking about recently is- I am going to be an Uncle soon! Woo Hoo~

And TGIF tomorrow! Double Woo Hoo~

Cheers~

Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 5/12/2010 08:14:00 PM

I spent my weekend going to Marina Barrage to picnic and fly kite with my colleague after the Sentosa trip with bros for a really short sun sea sand session, both celebrating Darren's Birthday and my colleague Birthday. And I went to ION Orchard with Denise and Amber on Sunday and it is nice catching up with them after so long. Hope to meet up more often and also with everyone! Hope the Chalet that we wanted will materialise cause I miss everyone's laughter!!

My life has been rather smooth for the past week which means good. Looking forward to all the birthdays that are coming up as it means a reason for friends to meet up and have some fun!

And would like to thank mum for fulfilling my craving of Satay! She bought me to East Coast Park for Satay when I said I wanted it last night. We also had the "need to queue" Satay Bee Hoon, BBQ chicken and a full coconut.

And I am going to apply for my course already! Study here I come!
