How I wish I could live in Denmark for a year so that I can enjoy their cold short sunlight days in winter where sunrise comes around at only 9am and set at 430pm, and also their cooling long sunlight days in summer where the sun rise at a very early 4am and set at only 10pm!! Imagine you are sleeping with the sun still shining on your backside... That is really a different experience!
And guess what? Denmark has been voted the happiest place in the world for year 2006 to 2008. They are a large welfare state with the world 's highest level of income equality. Shops close after 5pm and the pace in that country seems so peaceful.
The pace in Singapore is way too fast that people feels stressful. Yes stress do provide results-We are a rich country and enjoys a very high standard of living. But stress makes people lose their cool easily. They become less courteous, narrow minded by only pursueing for materialism, don't give a second look to the things that is around them and everyday seems like living in a battlefield for them. And when did you see a person is worryless? Everyday you see your parents worry about finances. You see people worry about their exams. You see teens worrying about ways to get an itouch. Even our clean country is worried that we are not courteous enough. Well you see, our society shaped us into a mind that wants to pursue and excel in a lot of things at the same time. This in turn diverse our attention into getting the things that we want and in return, causes mental draining.
Bring yourselves back to 50 years ago where you are still living in a kampong. Where food cost just a few cents and playing marbles and hopscotch give you so much happiness. A simple thing can simply make you happy. But now, our society has too much temptation to satisfy our different needs and wants that we always can't have enough of it.
I wonder will Singapore one day be like Denmark, to be voted one of the happiest country in the world.
On Saturday, we celebrated QiJun's be-early 21st Birthday. Seems like everybody getting older and older. Well again, you just feel like the days have been passing so fast that in the blink of an eye, another year has past. Well that the results of a fast-paced country. Other than that, I have start playing a lot of DOTA with bros and friends online. It has become a mild addiction that I have to make it a point by restricting myself to only play on times where my friends are playing.
And the mood in office is getting more and more excited I guess because there are going to have major changes in my working environment. Crossing my finger on the fate of my 1 and 1 quarter years of ah-mi life.
Cheers~
