Pardon for my insensitivity.
A joking remarks aren't joking at all.
Even a joker would have it's limits.
So just now, I mean yesterday, met up with campmates to Jason 21st Birthday party at NSRCC. Happy Birthday Jason! Have a wonderful 21st year!
Met up with i-guides after that at Bedok for K session. The room is big and nice!! Went to grab some beancurd for supper after that. But still, i'm feeling hungry now.
We were talking and came to a topic about the previous graduation trip that we had. Was hoping to have a plan for another overseas trip with them. Maybe to Taiwan or South Korea! It would be exciting if the plan really materialise.
And Janice talked about job-holiday which means working in the country while you are travelling. That would be an eye opener I guess. Can't wait for ORD so that I can have my freedom back to do all those ambitious stuff. Counting down to 1 year 1 month 22 days
My first leave
Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 8/25/2010 11:59:00 PM
I was on my first leave for the year! And it was an interesting leave day. Had English Oral exam in the afternoon. Guess i'm wasn't really that confident to score good marks for it. Had been rather anxious during the conversation part and so, I have to work extremely hard on my Paper 1 and Paper 2 to score better! Yea I will work hard on that.
After that, met up with Chee Hiang, YeSheng and YongLiang. Went back to TP to have our late lunch. That place just brought back fun memories that we had during our tertiary years. It's almost 1 and a half year since we graduated from TP. Time really flies like a rocket.
After that, we proceed on to E-hub K-box for some K session as weekday membership price is only at $8 nett! I remember the last time that I hold a mic was during my birthday which was 2 months ago, that was long yea?
Had a great rest-day today, especially when it was accompanied by your friends and/or families, doing things that we enjoy. Back to mental war tomorrow!
And a very Happy Birthday to Faezah! Have a magnificent year ahead!
Cheers~

Making a Difference
Monday, August 23, 2010, 8/23/2010 12:13:00 AM
This weekend was spent with happiness and a tinge of meaning to it. Thanks to Wei Cheng, Saturday was quite a challenging yet meaningful day. So we went to Sunbeam Place with Zel and MinXing with the Mediacorp staffs. Sunbeam Place is under Singapore Children's Society who looks after children that came from abusive or violent families. Thus before we went there, we were told that the children were sometimes violent and they may end up fighting with each other, so we have to be mentally prepared to know how to handle them.
After we reached there, we were seperated into groups. I was paired up with Love 97.2FM radio DJ, 蔡礼莲 to handle this group of 6 boys. Saw YE933 DJ 巫许玛莉 and 987FM DJ Rosalyn Lee too. Some of the kids action are quite scary. Like one kid can suddenly slap the other kid on the face. Or when a kid borrow a thing from another kid, he returns it by throwing back to him. But at least they do listens to our instruction and I try to handle them by being one of their friends, playing and piggyback them when they asked for it.
After drawing their dream castle in the house, we brought them to East Coast Park and they got to build their own mighty sand castle with the help of the professionals Castle Beach! Had a fun time playing the sands!
It was a tiring day, but I made a difference in someone's life that day. And that brings everlasting happiness whenever I did something meaningful. I don't mind going back to help out as volunteers in future if I have the time. It is time to do something for our society.
And for today, met up with Zel, Amber, KianAik, Trevor, Duke and Dorothy in the evening and we went to have Ba Kut Teh at Bugis. After that, we proceeded on to Ah Chew Dessert store. Had my favourite Mango with Pamelo! As usual, delicious!
Cheers~

Lucky to be alived
Saturday, August 14, 2010, 8/14/2010 01:40:00 PM
I'm lucky to be alived! Almost met an accident last night when I was distracted talking to YeSheng while on our way for supper at Rochar for Tau Hua with Chee Hiang and Yong Liang. I was at a cross junction, preparing to turn right but didn't realised that a motorbike and a car was coming on the opposite direction at a fast speed. I pedalled on the accelerator pedal and moved off and both the motorbike and car was horning me. Especially the motorbike which was coming towards me at a faster speed. At that moment, I was prepared to stopped my car but I guess man's natural human instinct acts up in a near crisis that made me step on the pedal. If I did not and instead stopped my car for a mere 1 second, both the motorbike and car would have banged right into me. Would like to sincerely apologise to the rider and driver for risking their lives due to my distraction.
Happy Belated Birthday to my Home - Singapore!
Things I liked about you:
1) The low crime rate which allows me to walk safely on the streets in the middle of the night.
2) The high standard of living which makes us taking things for granted.
3) The variety of foods that I can choose from when i'm hungry! Prata, Satay, Mee Pok, Durians!
4) Proudly one of the countries that is able to change from the status of 3rd world to 1st in less than half a century.
5) The great transportation system. Knowing that I can go from one place to another without much hassle.
6) It's an open society. Where different cultures and races can live harmoniously.
7) Most importantly, it is where my friends and family are, where beautiful memories are created and kept.
CHEERS to Home!

interest vs career
Friday, August 06, 2010, 8/06/2010 10:57:00 PM
I once had this possessive mindset that interest will win over career. What I mean is that if there is 2 careers for you to choose from, 1 is a job that you are very interested in which pay you a monthly salary of $2000. The other is a job that you don't have an interest in(but don't mind that job) but it give you a better quality of life as it pays you a monthly salary of $3000. Which one will you choose?
In the past, I would have chosen interest over career as I feel that how can someone stay in a job for so long that they have no interest in? Wouldn't it be a torture to do that? But as time goes by, I start to feel that actually, it is not that realistic to think that way.
It is difficult for someone to crave out a very succesful career by doing something that he has an interest in. I say difficult but not impossible because there are still successful examples like world class atheletes. But out of the hundred millions of people who loves swimming, how many actually make it into the olympics or even continental competition? And out of the hundred thousands of atheletes who competes in world competition, how many actually won medals? It may seems that there are a lot of world class atheletes being rich and famous. But if you put that with the porpotion of people who are interested in being a sportsperson, the success rate is actually quite low.
For me, my interest lies in being a PE and Maths teacher as I like to challenge myself in speaking in front of a group of people. It seems scary but it gives you that kick of success when you feel that you have given a good speech and met your objective. I like to get myself involve in organising and planning, be it teaching plans or events. Being able to interact with people and handle different kind of situations everyday, it seems so un-routine and challenging. However, my interest for being a teacher seems shaken as I have other field(less interest) that I wish to get into. Now, I hope that I can be an above average personnel working in accounts field as I personally believe that this career(not seen as interest) can make me become a more successful person.
So which one will you choose? Interest or Career?
Cheers~

Weekend @ Bugis
Tuesday, August 03, 2010, 8/03/2010 11:53:00 PM
Caught Aftershock with Bros at illuma Filmgade Cinema during the weekend. A great movie with Chio-Bus to watch especially Zhang Jingchu =D
Had Lenas for dinner at Bugis Junction. It is an Italian concept restaurant. Ordered a plate of Shrimp Pasta served with Aglio Olio Sauce and it was fantastic! The prawn was darn fresh and chewy. We shared the Pizza and it was not bad too - Served hot and crunchy. The restaurant is situated beside Fish and Co.
I feel like leaving this small little island to an unfamiliar place, it would be great if the sea is one of the companion. Need a break cause it's too boring for the routine life and I need something to look forward to so that time will pass faster.
Die liao la! I going to kena cadiovascular disease already. Left 6 hours to sleep =(
Cheers~
